Animal charity fundraiser
A group of local people have raised more than E2000 for animal welfare charities.
Pat Crotty, Eileen McLoughlin and friends thank all those who supported their recent fundraiser in aid of the Irish Horse Welfare Trust in Co Wicklow and Deise Animal Sanctuary in the Nire Valley.
Pat and Eileen especially thank John, Carmel, Brian Dolan and staff of Super Valu, Cahir for allowing them to sell tickets on their premises, to their great friends, who helped in selling the tickets and to everyone, who bought tickets on the day.
The total amount raised was €2,003.79 and because of the public’s great generosity they are able to send three extra donations to three other animal welfare groups.
Winner of the hamper kindly sponsored by Cahir Credit Union was Grace Doyle.
The group appeal to people to think carefully before deciding to get a dog. A dog should be part of the family, and not just left to fend for itself and locked out in the back garden all day.
Huge response to recycling day
The Castle Car Park was a hive of activity last Saturday when WEEE Ireland held a free electrical recycling day.
A huge number of people cleared out their sheds and garages of old electrical goods.
This is a marvellous free service, well organised and managed by the staff of WEEE Ireland.
