Ballyneale FC played table toppers St Kieran’s at their home grounds in Ballydine in the league last Sunday. It was a hotly contested game.
Ballyneale started well, creating many chances in the first half, but didn’t convert them to goals.
St Kieran’s broke away on 25 minutes and scored from close range.
The second half started the same. Ballyneale created chances but it took until 60 minutes into the game for Ger Crowley to get the team on level terms with St Kieran’s, finishing bravely from the back post.
This gave Ballyneale the boost the team needed for the remainder and they didn’t let go.
Seventy-five minutes into the game, David Norton again came up trumps with a neat finish.
The team never looked back after this and finished the game 2-1, claiming three valuable points.
The game was a credit to all involved and was played in great spirit from start to finish.
Performing best for Ballyneale were Ger Crowley, Dean Madden and Keith Carbery.
