A beech tree was planted to mark the official opening of Cahir Park Pre-School last Friday.

The tree planting ceremony was attended by a large gathering of dignitaries, parents and children.

As it was Halloween time, the children and pre-school staff all dressed up in Halloween outfits to add some fun to the occasion.

The tree was planted by Jim Halpin, Chairman of Cahir Park AFC and he was ably assisted by all the children in the pre-school.

Jim thanked all those who assisted in any way to get the pre-school off the ground.

He paid particular tribute to Phil Mackey, Pre-schools Services Officer, the County Childcare Committee and Cahir Park Pre-school Committee of Linda Sullivan, Paul Conway and Ger Hally.

Jim thanked all the staff of Cahir Park, Brendan, Joe, Tommy and Eamon, who keep the grounds and the Clubhouse in immaculate condition.

He also thanked the parents and those who contributed toys and books to the service .

When the children were finished helping to plant the tree, they sang some lovely autumn songs for everyone.

They received great applause from a delighted audience and were treated to a party on the veranda of the clubhouse while the adults enjoyed tea and coffee with barm brack.

The pre-school thanks all the parents, who helped out at the official opening.

It really helped to create a great atmosphere for this special occasion.
