Cahir Tidy Towns Group’s energy saving meeting with Tipperary Energy Agency takes place in the Shamrock Lounge, Cahir tonight (Wednesday, October 31) at 8pm.
All are welcome.
Last week, the group organised an electrical items collection day in association with WEEE Ireland and was very successful.
The Tidy Towns judges in the landscaping section of their inspection report on Cahir this year suggested re-examining the use of the centre area of The Square as a car park. to make on landscaping in the town.
“In the Square, the trees are significant but the central area is simply being used as a car park,” says the report.
“ It is suggested that this area be re-examined. One idea to be explored would entail increasing car parking capacity at the front of the buildings with right angled parking and removing car parking from the central area and developing it as a larger open space feature.”
The report also suggests there is scope for the creation of a line of trees on the Cashel Road. The report also observes that the cherry trees in Abbey Street are old and will need replacing and recommends planting Hornbeam. And it praises the tree and hedge planting on the Clonmel Road.
