As you will be aware, Ballybacon Community Alert is now in the process of establishing a Text Alert Scheme in conjunction with An Garda Siochana in Cahir. A form has been handed to each household which you can fill to agree to become part of the initiative. You may only participate in the scheme if you sign up with the letter of consent. The feedback that has been received from other areas include a reduction in crime, the community feels safer, increased communication amongst local residents via the text system, increased communication between An Garda Síochána and the community, better relations between An Garda Síochána and the community, Gardaí are able to get information to the community instantly and Gardaí can canvass hundreds of subscribers in an instant should they require information.

All information that was be provided will be treated with the strictest of confidence and will not be used for any other purpose on the Text Alert Initiative. As this service is been provided at a cost to the committee, we have appealed for a once off donation of your choice in the envelope which was provided. Your donation will be treated with the utmost of confidentiality and a percentage will also go towards the provision of a defibrillator which will be located in Goatenbridge. Representatives of Community Alert are currently in the process of collecting forms and donations and will call to you shortly. If you were not at home at the time our committee member called and you wish to become involved in the scheme or just want to make a donation, please contact Martin Lonergan on 0876497083 or any committee member.
