SOCIAL AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY LECTURE

SOCIAL AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY LECTURE

Local historian, Liam Roche will give an overview of the history of Cahir in the Butler Charteris Hall, Church Street (next door to St Paul’s Church) tonight, Wednesday, March 20, at 8pm. As this is the first event that the Society has held in some time and it is hoped that there will be a good attendance on the night. Admission is free.

FREE LECTURE

CANDLELIT CONCERT

Holy Week: An Inspirational Candlelit Concert will take place in St. Mary’s Church, Clogheen, on Spy Wednesday, March 27, at 8pm. Admission €15. Guest artists are Trudi Lalor, John Hogan and Paddy O’Brien. Tickets are available from John Quirke, Castle Street, Cahir or contact Elsie on 0527465889.

CAHIR ANGLERS 
TABLE QUIZ

Cahir Anglers will hold a Table Quiz on Friday, March 22, at 9pm in the Shamrock Lounge on Castle Street. Teams of four €20. Lots of raffle prizes on the night. All are welcome.

COMEDY SHOW FUNDRAISER

A comedy show called “Santa Ponsa” takes place in Cahir House Hotel on Saturday, March, 23. The show will include Frank Twomey and Packie O’Callaghan stars of Joe Duffy’s Funny Friday and Bull Island. This show is organised by New Inn Boy’s National School to raise much needed funds. DAFFODIL DAY

Don’t forget this Friday, March 22, is Daffodil Day, The Irish Cancer Society’s annual fundraising event. Volunteers are always needed to help out on the day, so if you have some time contact Eleanor 0527441236, Breda 0879311788 or Tina 0876559181.

SCOUT DEN

Rebuilding of 7th. Tipp Cahir Boys Scouts Den will commence on Monday, April 8, at the Lacka. The Troop have been without a permanent den for a number of years. Established in 1932 the Group continues to go from strength to strength, it consists of a Beaver Colony, Cub pack, Scout Troop and a Venture Scout Group.. If you wish to donate to this project contact any committee member.

CAMOGIE CLUB

Cahir Camogie Club will host an U12 Blitz at 11am in Duneske next Saturday, March 23. The teams in attendance will be Carraig Swans, Cashel, Brian Borus, Ballybacon and Cahir.

The Junior A team had their first match of the season against Burgess/Duharra. Cahir lost this match having to play with an understrength team. They will play the second round against Toomevara next Sunday. Training continues every Saturday at 10.30am and Tuesday at 6.45pm on the all weather pitch in Duneske.

ANIMAL WELFARE FUNDRAISER
