SOLOGHEAD GAA

On Sunday evening last in Annacarty our U14 footballers, captained by Denis O’Shea, completed the League and Championship double with a great win over the Kickhams in the championship West Final.

Having led by two points at half time 1-2 to 0-3, they battled hard all the way to the finish before getting the better of a Kickhams side that proved equally hard to shake off. In what was another big all round team performance Jack Redigan topped the scoring firing in three goals while others on target included Paudie Franklin, Dean Morrissey, Evan Hanrahan and Ben Quinn. Sologhead now go on to meet the North Tipp champions in the County Semi Final. Final Score, Sologhead 3-8 Knockavilla Kickhams 2-3. Team: Seamus Burns, Jordan Cummins, Ethan Cummins, D.J.Cremins, Denis O’Shea, Will Collins, Aaron Ryan, Ben Quinn 0-3, Dean Morrissey 0-2, Evan Hanrahan 0-1, Jack Redigan 3-1, Dylan Ryan, Padraig Franklin 0-1, Subs all used, Brahim Ryan, Rodrigo Serrano, Dylan Murphy.

Our Junior Hurlers got off to a winning start to this years championship in Clonoulty on Friday evening last with a five point margin win over Eire Og. We maintained the upper hand for the next 20 minutes going 10 points clear but a mini revival by Eire Og in the closing 10 minutes saw the lead cut to five points as our backs having to soak up a constant wall of pressure held out for a well deserved win. Final Score, Sologhead 1-11 Eire Og 1-6. Team: Sean O’Dwyer, Gerry Dee, Phillip Doherty 1-4 (1-3 frees), Kevin Ryan, Brendan Collins, Noel Kennedy, Jamie Ryan, Alan Riordan, Mike Fitzgerald, Barry Ryan, Kieran Keane, Eoin Riordan 0-2, Michael O’Connor 0-3, Parry Power, David Kennedy 0-2.
