LAUNCH OF BURNCOURT GATHERING
Last Saturday saw the launch of the Burncourt Gathering Festival which will be held over two weekends, July 12 and July 19. The theme of the first weekend will be a “Turn Back Time,” with an exhibition in the Community Hall of Burncourt a century ago. The second weekend will delve further with a medieval theme, featuring a banquet and more.

Congratulations to the U12 Fr. Sheehys side who won their county championship, beating Rossmore Clonoulty. Players from Burncourt were Robert Maher, Gavin English and Cieran Connolly.
INSPIRING RURAL CREATIVITY
The “Inspiring Rural Creativity” Festival takes place in Burncourt from June 27 to 30. June 27 sees the launch of a Temporary Museum of River Life in Burncourt Community Hall; an installation by artist Deirdre O’Mahony and a food event based around the River Suir and focused on fishing, hunting and local culture. A documentary film, produced by local young people, will be screened. Items required for the museum: fishing rods, nets, baskets, record books, photos, hunting materials, photographs, posters, taxidermied animals/ birds/ fish memorabilia etc. At the community hall on Thursday, June 6, items can be scanned and returned. Super 8, 16mm films and VHS videos are of interest but have to be taken to the Irish Film Centre for transfer to DVD. Info 0876967661 or 0866086638.
