Gold Star Disability Awareness Training programme (GSDAT)

The Tipperary gold Star Project will run the Gold Star Disability Awareness Training programme (GSDAT) at the Moorehaven Centre, Tipperary Town on Friday, May 31 from 10am to 12pm. The course covers an introduction to disability issues and overview of the history of disability and the social and medical models of disability. Invited speakers on the course include John Collins, Job Coach with the South Tipperary Supported Employment Project and Paul Purcell, Project Worker with the Moorehaven Centre. The course is provided free of charge in partnership with the HSE and local disability agencies in South Tipperary including the South Tipperary VEC and the Tipperary Town Gold Star Task Group.  Anyone interested in participating on the course should contact Anne Bradshaw on 087 6296461 as soon as possible to secure places.

Glen of Aherlow Walking Festival 2013

The Glen of Aherlow Walking Festival 2013 takes place over the June Bank Holiday weekend from May 31 to June 2, 2013. Organised by the Glen of Aherlow Fáilte Society and the Galtee Walking Club this is one of Irelands leading walking festivals. Recently nominated in the Irish Times 25 Best Places to Holiday in Ireland, the Glen of Aherlow, Tipperary enjoy graded walks led by experienced guides from the Galtee Walking Club.

A and B Walks will take you on the high Galtees while C walks for the casual walker will follow the national Loops on Slievenamuck or the lower Galtees, giving the opportunity to enjoy the heritage and culture of the Glen.
