A potential public amenity facility to provide for play fields, skateboarding, Bmx biking and other outdoor recreational activities will be considered on suitable lands on the northern side of Clonmel.
That was the response that local Fianna Fail Cllr. Siobhan Ambrose received to a request at a recent meeting of Clonmel Borough Council.
Welcoming the news, Cllr. Ambrose said the town had a wonderful recreational facility in Mulcahy Park, but due to the sizeable increase in the number of houses on the northern end of town over the last few years she felt that provision needed to be made for additional playing facilities to serve residents living in that area.
She also welcomed the fact that provision has been allowed in the Budget for 2013 towards the costs associated with the development of such a facility, the delivery of which is dependent on suitable land becoming available and the Council acquiring the necessary consents and additional funding.
