King Cormac’s Juniors hurlers will contest the West Junior B final for a second year running after seeing off Arravale Rovers in Dundrum last weekend.

A blistering opening quarter from Cashel saw them race into a commanding nine point lead.

With Gerard O Dwyer pulling the strings in attack and aided by a watertight Cashel defence this game was going very much to plan. Leading 3-07 to 0-7 at halftime it was case of more of the same on the resumption but the Rovers side, champions from 2011 were not going to go down that easy and staged a remarkable comeback.

Cashel were struggling to cope with the losses of influential players O’Dwyer and Fitzell as the lead was now a slender two points. But Gavin Manton banged in his second goal to ease the pressure and further points from Padraig O’Donoghue and Jonathan Walsh sealed victory.

The team will be very happy to be contesting the final in a couple of weeks time and hopefully the lads can go one step further than last year and win but Golden will offer by far our strongest challenge to date.
