The commemoration evening honouring Fr William Hayden was organised by the Craobh O’hIci branch of Conradh na Gaeilge in Carrick-on-Suir on July 31, the 120th anniversary of the Gaelic League’s foundation.

The Craobh O’hIci branch is more than 100 years old and is currently chaired by Anrai Mac Seoige.

It runs weekly Irish classes that are followed by informal social gatherings where people have an opportunity to practice speaking the language.

The branch is currently taking a summer holiday break but will resume its language classes and gatherings in late September.

The classes take place at the Old Mill Pub at New Street, Carrick-on-Suir from 8pm to 9pm on Wednesdays and are followed by the social gatherings at the pub from 9pm to 10pm.
