Championship: (1st rd I.F.C) Oola 0-7, Gerald Griffins 0-8.

A disappointing result to this match for Oola considering the amount of possession they enjoyed throughout the game. Oola got off to the best possible start with a point from play by John Bourke after 30 seconds but almost immediately Gerald Griffins drew level. We had to wait until the 7th minute for the next score, a point for Gerald Griffins but Oola were soon level again when wing back Eoin Fitzgibbon made a good run up field to score. Gerald Griffins got the next two points in the 15th and 16th minutes. Ian Bourke scored the first of his three points from play for Oola in the 18th minute but this would be Oola`s last score before the half time break while Gerald Griffins added a further point to leave the score 0-5 to 0-3 in Gerald Griffins favour.

In the second half Gerald Griffins added a further point in the 3rd minute to go three points ahead but points from Ian Bourke in the 4th and 7th minutes left only a point between the sides. At this stage Oola missed some good chances to draw level and allowed Gerald Griffins up the field to go back into the lead by two points. Eoin Fitzgibbon tried to lift Oola`s spirit with a point with ten minutes to go but once again Gerald Griffins responded with a point from a free by their goalkeeper Brian Scanlon. Oola tried hard for the remaining minutes and reduced the defecate to a single point when Denis Moloney put his name on the scoresheet but time was up and Gerald Griffins held on for their one point victory.
