The Cashel Primary Care Team would like to thank everyone from the community who attended their recently hosted Coffee Morning at Our Lady’s Hospital.
Since its inception in 2006 the team has been based in the Chapel Lane premises, a recent move sees it relocated to a permanent home in Our Lady’s Hospital, Cashel. To mark the move and to ensure that all the community are involved and aware of the range of services available, the team recently hosted an open Coffee Morning at Our Lady’s Hospital. Over sixty members of the local community attended and were treated to wonderful tea, coffee, warm scones and an opportunity to chat with all the staff of the Primary Care Team at the new premises.
The visitors were also taken on a tour of the hospital and got a chance to see first hand what services are available and where to go to get them.
Brigid Farrell, from the HSE, addressed the event and highlighted the range of health services that are available on the doorstep in Cashel. She said it is very important to ensure that the Primary Care Team and it’s services are widely advertised in the local community to ensure that it is well known that these services are readily available in the local community. She said not everyone in Cashel is fully aware of the wonderful service that is now set up at Our Lady’s Hospital with the Primary Care Team.
Primary Care is the first point of contact a person has with the health care system. It is where people receive care for most of their everyday health care needs. The Cashel Primary Team focuses on prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow up to various health conditions. The team is made up of Public Health Nurses, Community Registered Nurses, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Social Workers, Home Help Coordinator and GPs. There is also a network of other services available to support the team, including, psychologists, speech and language therapists, dental and social work.
Referrals to all services is generally done through your GP, with the exception of social work, where you can self refer.
The Cashel Team would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the morning a success and they look forward to working with all the community into the future.
