Due to unforseen circumstances the AGM is postponed until Wednesday April 18.

Golden/Kilfeacle Festival.

This year’s festival will take place from Wednesday June 27 until Sunday July 1. Committee is seeking timber that will be sold at auction. Julie Tierney is taking entries for the wife carrying competition. New items this year include “Family Fortune quiz”, car boot sale and Tug of war. Each household will receive a program of events the week before the festival.

First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion for both schools being Golden and Thomastown will take place in Golden on Sunday May 13.

50th International Eucharistic Conference

The 50th International Eucharistic Conference will take place in Dublin from 10th to 17th June 2012. A collection will be taken up at all masses on May 5th/6th to help defray the expenses associated with holding the conference.

Golden National School

Anyone who would like to pre-order the book on the history of the school can do so by contacting the school on 062 72164 or by dropping in. The costs are €20 for paperback copy and €25 for hard back.

Pioneer news

Sincere thanks to all who supported our recent sponsored walk. The sum of €3,100 was raised. Our annual dinner dance takes place on Saturday April 21 in Dundrum House Hotel. Tickets €25 from Kathleen Ryan or any pioneer centre. This year’s retreat will be held in the Pallotine College, Thurles on Sunday April 29 from 9.30am to 5.30 pm. The retreat will be directed by Fr John Egan. Cost €35 including lunch and afternoon tea.
