The girls’ u14 football championship is now in full swing. Our girls, playing together for the first time in competition, have performed very well in their first two matches. In the first game, against Fethard, the match was very evenly contested and ended in a draw, 3 goals each.
Weather conditions were most inclement but the great effort displayed by both teams was rewarded by each side gaining a draw. Clerihan were well on top in the first half, but Fethard came strongly into the fray after half-time to secure a draw with a late penalty.
In our second match, away to Killenaule, Clerihan won by 3-7 to 2-0. Our team gelled really well as a unit, with top performances all over the field. Killenaule upped the ante after half-time to record a most spirited comeback. However, the half-time deficit was too much for them and Clerihan emerged victorious. Both games were played in a very sporting fashion.
