Terry and Lorraine Herron would like to thank all their family, friends and neighbours for making their recent 40th Wedding Anniversary such a pleasant occasion. They would also like to tell those who gave gifts, that in return Terry and Lorraine have made a donation to South Tipp Hospice as a token of thanks.

Daffodil Day

The proceeds from the Cahir area for this years Daffodil Day fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society has amounted to €10,028.49.

Sincere thanks to all the volunteers who helped out in any way and to the public who gave their support.

Tipp/Arsenal Supporters Club

The Tipperary Arsenal Supporters Club will hold their AGM on Wednesday, September 12, at 8pm at The Outback, Waterford Road, Clonmel. All members and potential members welcome. Membership forms for season 2012/13 available. Membership reduced to €20 adults, €10 under 16s and €30 family membership. The results of “25” Card Game held at the McAuley Room on Friday, August 31. Joint first, with 10 games - Rita Walsh, Kitty Slattery. John Whelan, Mary Moloney. David White, Willie O’Neill. Lucky Table - Bob Condon, Paddy Holleran. Leisha Shine, Teresa Prendergast. Raffle - Sheila Slattery, Ann Lonergan. The next game will be held on Friday, September 7.

We are now taking bookings for our autumn Holiday to Torremolinos. Contact the secretary.

Plans for a trip to Dublin Zoo on Wednesday, September 12, are complete.

Saddle sore for Crumlin

Pat Cunningham has started fundraising in the Cahir area. He would like to thank everyone who has supported him so far. Pat is planning a motorbike challenge to raise money for Crumlin - 1100 miles in 24 hours. Starting in Cahir heading to Dublin, Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Killarney, Limerick, Galway, Clifden, Letterkenny, Ballycastle, Belfast, Dublin and back to Cahir - a major challenge.

All money raised goes directly to Crumlin’s Medical research facility. You can contact Pat on 0861511853 all help and donations are greatly appreciated.

District Darts League

The District League Darts, Cahir, held a competition for the Morrissey /Coonan Trophy recently. Mick Smith, chairman presented a cheque for €1,510 to Kevin Brunnick on behalf of the Irish Heart Foundation in the Abby Tavern Cahir. Present were: John Ormond, Ger Coonan, Mick Smite, Chairman, Kevin Brunnick of the Heart Foundation, Rita Carr and Trevor Coveney.

Cahir Library

Cahir library now has new opening times. Monday: 2pm to 5 pm and 6.30pm to 8pm, Tuesday 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm. Thursday 1.30pm to 5pm, Friday 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm. Saturday 10am to 1pm. The library is closed on Wednesday

Summer Reading Tree - The Summer Reading Tree finishes this week. Children have until 5pm on Friday to get the last of their book titles in and must have read at least six books to get their medal.

Beech Park News 

Last month’s draw winners were -John Shakeshaft, Julia Halley, Marie Duggan and Billy Coffey. The newly erected wrought iron stands and hanging baskets are looking very well and enhance the estate; they have been admired by passersby. Thanks to the residents who are looking after them and making sure they are watered. The place is looking very well and it would be a great help if residents would pick up any litter they might see around.

Community Lotto

There were two jackpot winners of the draw that took place on Wednesday, August 29. They receive €1,000 each. Congratulations to Loren Ward, Clonmore, Cahir and E & J Vincent, Clonmore, Cahir. The numbers drawn were 4, 7, 11 and 21. The draw was witnessed by Kitty Saunders.

The next draw will take place on Wednesday, September 5, at 12 noon in Cahir Day Care Centre. The jackpot will then be €2,000! Tickets are available in local shops and also at the Enterprise Centre.

Irish Kidney

Association

Thank you to the people of Cahir for their generosity at the Church Gate Collection for the Irish Kidney Association that took place last weekend. €500 was raised.

Cashel Tennis Open Week

Moss and Joe Ahern had a great week and were runners up in the class 3 men’s doubles. Moss Ahern and Patsy Cooney also won the class 3 mixed doubles beating Joe Ahern and Helen Ryan in the final. The best of luck to the Cashel Team in the Munster Cup Final on September 16.

Progressive 45

The Annual Progressive 45 Drive in aid of people with special needs will be held at Clogheen Community Centre next Wednesday, September 12, at 8.30pm sharp. Admission €10. There will be a raffle on the night.

Cahir Park 
Academy

Cahir Park Academy is back this Saturday, September 8. Registration is €20. For U8s born 2005/2006 registration is 10am to 11am, U9s born 2004 registration is 12am to 1pm, U10’ born 2003 registration is 11am  to 12am and football for all is from 1pm to 2pm.
