Photographers from the Carrick-on-Suir area are invited to submit their favourite pictures showing Co. Tipperary at its best to a competition for a Credit Union calendar.

The invitation has come from Carrick on Suir Credit Union and the County Library, which are urging local photographers to take the opportunity to showcase in the 2013 Tipperary calendar.

The calendar will feature photographs promoting Co. Tipperary under the theme “Hidden Tipperary”.

Photographs should show areas or scenes that give a taste of the many facets of the county.

The competition organisers are advising photographers to submit photographs of scenes that are not well recognised by the public such as an area for family enjoyment, scenic views, or animals or people not easily identifiable.

At least 36 entries will be chosen for the 2013 calendar and the entries will be put on display in Tipperary Branch Libraries.

Prizes to the value of €1,200 will be awarded and some of the entries will also be displayed on a specially commissioned website promoting Co. Tipperary.

Details and competition rules are available at Carrick-on-Suir Credit Union and Carrick-on-Suir Library and photograph, either hard copy or on disc, can be submitted to both places in a sealed envelope marked Photography Competition 2013.

Entries can also be submitted electronically in a format that will give a high-resolution end product to mytipperary@gmail.com.
