The Cahir Tidy Towns Group have entered the Energy Neighbourhoods Competition for this coming year and if you are interested and not a member of the group you are still welcome to participate.

A lot of what is involved is only turning off unnecessary electrics around the house. Any group of five houses or more can apply and they do not need to be in the same estate. The savings are good on the household and registration can be made through www.tea.ie.

Tidy Towns have stored all their geraniums for next year with some new cutting taken from quite a few so hopefully they will winter well and we will see them again in the spring.

Each week we publish part of the adjudicators report and here is what they said about Litter Control:

“Your anti-litter campaign and patrols are working very well as litter volumes observed were minor in this well visited busy town. Your special focus on the car park at Cahir Castle seems to have been worthwhile. It was disappointing to note the accumulation of litter in a corner of the Ha Ha at the side of St Paul’s Church. Litter was also seen on the ground beside the Cahir Engineering sign.”

The Chairman of Cahir Tidy Towns would like to say well done to the boys on the Council, to Gerry and Dave and Seamus and also to the many members that put on the bib to keep the town tidy week in, week out. There are many others working away in their own areas and it is most appreciated and is noticed as per the report. Thanks again to all as we gained two points in this section.

There will be no meet this coming Wednesday night.
