Four Cahir camogie players selected for U-14 county team

Cahir Camogie Club congratulates its four members, who have secured places on the U-14 County Camogie panel.

Cahir Camogie Club congratulates its four members, who have secured places on the U-14 County Camogie panel.

The players representing Cahir on the team are Roisin Howard, Keely Halpin, Carol Casey and Caoimhe Condon.

The panel have competed in Kilkenny, Limerick and Clare to date. .

The U-16 team played against Moyle Rovers/St Mary’s last Monday week in Duneske. R

Rebecca English was the first to score with a well taken point. Laura Dillon then put a goalin the back of the net. Emma Buckley was having a great game at midfield and scored a total of 4 points for Cahir.

Aisling McCarthy scored two fine points from play in the first half and Sinead Kennedy followed up with another point. Rachel O’Dwyer also played well and battled for every ball. Aisling McCarthy was the first to score a goal in the second half after a well taken free by Emma Buckley.

Joye Arbuckle and Aoife Murray scored two more goals. Roisin Howard scored the final point to bring Cahir’s final tally to 4-9.

Emma Corcoran, Alannah Burke, Megan Heffernan, Ciara Lonergan and Lorna McEneiry were prominent throughout the match and kept the opposition out.

Keeley Halpin was superb in goal and pulled off a few fine saves.

The U-16 team played their next game against a very strong Thurles team. All the team were outstanding and were very unlucky to lose the match by one point.

The final score was Thurles 1-9 to Cahir 2-5. The U-16 team are now through to the semi-final. Well done to Michael Lonergan and the management team.

Blitz: The U-6s, U-8s and U-10s played a very enjoyable blitz against Ballygiblin Camogie Club last Wednesday.

It was the first outing for some of our very young players and they all played brilliantly. Thanks to Ballygiblin for coming to Cahir and thanks to all the people who helped on the night.

The U-14 team had a fantastic win in their semi-final against Burgess last Thursday. Final score was 4-10 to 0-1.

The team are now in the county final. Well done to Mary, Carol and the management team.

Outdoor training continues for all age groups from 7pm to 8pm on Wednesdays and on Saturdays from 10.30am to 11.30pm for U-12s and U-14s.

The U-12s will be starting go games soon . All players are asked to attend training on Wednesday.
