Sunday, June 16, is the date for this year’s festival. New Inn Festival plans to be a fun day for all ages. Meeting on Thursday, April 4, in the NICC. All welcome to give ideas to make it a great weekend.

Under 16 Championship New Inn are in Group 1, Round 1 this Thursday, April 4, at home at 6.45pm against Annacarty.


Zumba dance classes on every Tuesday night at 8.15pm in the NICC, for 6 weeks. Not too late to join, if interested please contact Mary F Barron. “Day at the races”, Punchestown on Wednesday, April 24. Meal at Sallins on the way home. Pat Crotty, Eileen McLoughlin and friends are holding a fundraiser at 2pm on Sunday, April 7, in the Community Hall, Cahir to help animal rescue centres in their growing fight against animal cruelty. Pat and Eileen would appeal to people to bake something for us or maybe you have an unwanted gift left over from Christmas that you would be willing to donate. We will take anything as long as it is new or in very good condition. Unfortunately this time we will be unable to accept any delph or books. The Community Hall will be opened on Saturday afternoon, April 6, from 2pm to 5pm to accept donations and from 10am on Sunday morning, to accept any baked items.

The winners of the Rockwell Rovers heat of the Tipperary County Board Table Quiz held in Barron’s Pub recently went to the County Final which was held in the Dome on Holy Thursday, March 28. The team itself did itself justice but did not win. Well done to Clonoulty Rossmore team who won first prize of a trip to New York. Another west team Cashel King Cormacs came joint third with Moyne Templetouhy. Thanks to Mr Mister men’s clotheswear, Cahir & Mitchelstown, Senator Windows, O’Brien Pharmacy, Cahir, Joe Blair, Willie Flynn & Co. Accountancy & Mary Frances Barron for sponsoring prizes for the raffle which was held on the night of the heats. Thanks also to Kevin Halley (county co-ordinator) and to all who participated and supported the quiz.


Well done to Rockwell/Rosegreen who had a good win over Cappawhite last Friday, March 29, in New Inn in the West Minor B Football championship. See for details!

To mark the 90th Anniversary of the death of General Liam Lynch, a weekend of commemoration is organised in Newcastle. There will be a historical walk on Saturday, April 6, with registration at 12.30pm at the Community Hall, Newcastle. Details from Helen 0877910454, Michael 0877539276 or 0872336645. The Commemoration Mass will take place in Newcastle on Sunday, April 7, at 1pm. Oration will be delivered by Michaél Martin TD, Uachtarán Fhianna Fáil.
