JIGS AND REELS SLIABH GCUA STYLE
The jigs and reels held last Saturday night in the Community Centre was once again a great success both entertainment wise and financially. Great credit is due to the hard working committee and master of ceremonies on the night was Brendan Tobin. All contestants worked very hard in the weeks coming up to the final and the winners on the night were: Dayna Lawlor and Eoin Kearns, 2nd Place went to Danielle McCarthy and Darren O’Connor, 3rd Place went to Jean Dunford and Johnny McGrath. The prize for the most entertaining couple went to Helen Kiely and Royco Ware. Well done also to the other participants, Dermot and Sinead, Diarmuid and Chloe, John and Niamh, Nickie and Mossie, Seamus and Julie, Paul and Pauline, Colin and Sinead and Nicola and Richie.
A big thank you to all the participants, all those who supported and everybody who worked hard to ensure this year’s event was such a success.
We extend sincere sympathy to the sons, Patrick and Seamus, daughters, Bridget and Margaret of the late Bridie Whelan, Knockboy, whose death occurred last week. We also extend sympathy to Bridie’s grandsons, grand daughters, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
The Irish Red Cross will be running a cardiac First Responder (CFR) Course in Lismore on Saturday May 28 from 9am to 5pm. The cost of the course is €55. If you are a paid up member of the Irish Red Cross, on production of proof of membership. This CFR Course will be at a reduced price of €35. This one-day course will give you the tools to assist in an emergency, such as CPR and could prove to be invaluable.
