Vee Valley Day Care Centre;
The Vee Valley Day Care Centre would like to sincerely thank Deirdre, Monica and all the local ladies who took part in the Dublin Flora mini marathon in aid of the Centre and everyone who supported them in anyway. A cheque for €4828 was presented to us on Friday 18th July. On Friday 22nd July, the Centre’s Summer Outing took place. This year we travelled to Killoloe, stopping off on the way at Pa McGrath’s pub, we then carried on to the “ Spirit of Killoloe” for a cruise on Lough Derg. After our return we then went to the Lakeside Hotel where we had a lovely 4 course lunch overlooking the Lough. We were then entertained by 2 local musicians until it was time for our return. A big thank you to all who joined us and to those who helped on the day.
The Centre closed on Friday 29th July and re-open on Monday 29th August and would like to thank all the people who have again helped and supported the Centre and its members throughout the year especially Sister Aine and her staff and the Public Health Nurses.
John and Sylvia Froome would like to say Thank you to the kind people who helped John on Friday 22nd following his fall off the kerb outside Clogheen Post Office. Special thanks to the gentleman that picked him up and the ladies who stayed with him until the nurse arrived. Our thanks also to Dr Durack, Caroline and Ann at the Post Office and for the many kind messages from our friends and neighbours. He was very lucky and is recovering well.
Tour de Munster;
Pat and Maura O’Callaghan, Main St, Clogheen will join 150 cyclists for a fundraiser cycle that will take place from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th August with a stop off in Clogheen for refreshments.
With the ongoing difficulties parents and families of Down Syndrome have to cope with, the money raised will be of great benefit to parents, carers and SNAs at home and in schools. Especially with the major government cut backs they currently have to face. There was over €250,000 raised last year by the Tour de Munster. And, with peoples help and generosity we hope to equal or even beat that target this year.
