Collection – Haven collection realised €885. Thanks to all who supported this worthy cause in Haiti. Johnny Ryan (A), Rosemarie McGrath and Frances Grisewood travelled to Haiti last April as part of a building programme by Haven Partnership. They are returning to Haiti again in October for another week of building houses with 360 other volunteers from around Ireland. Also with the three locals were James Doherty from Oola and John Donovan from Donaskeigh. We wish all the volunteers well in this very worthwhile cause.

Trocaire – The basket collection last week at all masses in Cappawhite was for Trocaire, the amount collected was €2,960. Thank you! Trocaire and many other organisations are working for Famine stricken people in Africia: Somalia, Kenya. There has been a long drought. 12 million people are at serious risk, over half of these are children. The big indications of famine are present: people are moving from their homes; serious malnutrition; loss of livestock on which people depend; refugee centres are overcrowded. Any help or donation no matter how small it all helps.
