Clonmel Commercials

U 14 Boys Co Final –

Clonmel Commercials 8-12 Galtee Rovers 2-5

Clonmel Commercials got off to a great start in Dundrum on Saturday last, to pave the way for victory over Galtee Rovers in the county U14 championship final. In glorious sunshine, from the throw in, Commercials started on the front foot and after two minutes, Ryan Lambe set up Niall Hoctor for a goal and Sean Kennedy added a point a minute later. Oisin Napier added another point before Capt Adam Peters nipped in with a second goal. Calvin Boland then scored a point leaving the score 2-03 to no score after 10 minutes. Galtee Rovers got on the score board next before Oisin Napier and Ryan Lambe added further points. Commercials were dominant all over the field, but goalkeeper Patrick Murchan was called upon to make a brilliant save after eighteen minutes. Further points were added by Sean Kennedy, Ryan Lambe and Oisin Napier before Ian Fahey scored Commercials third goal. With half time approaching Calvin Boland added another point before the referee blew for half time, leaving the halt time score, 3-09 to 0-01 in favour of Commercials.

The second half started in similar fashion to the first, with Niall Hoctor getting in for his second goal of the game. Oisin Napier added another point before a spirited Galtee Rovers got their second point of the game. Ryan Lambe who was a constant thorn in the Rovers side, scored 2-02 in a 5 minutes spell and this was followed by a Calvin Boland goal. Great credit must be given to Galtee Rovers, who battled throughout the game and never gave up. Rovers then added their third point of the game before Niall Hoctor added his third goal. Galtee finished the stronger and were rewarded by scoring 2-02 in the last 8 minutes. In between these scores, Patrick Murchan brought off another wonderful save. All the Commercials defenders played well, in particular Jamie Maguire, James Brophy and Conal Kennedy. All substitutes brought on played their part when introduced.

Congratulations to Tommy Kelly and Ger Deeley for all the work they have done throughout the year.
