Carrick Davins senior hurlers were defeated by Roscrea in the semi-final of the Houlihan Cup last Tuesday.
This was a high scoring game but once again the Davin team were left with an uphill battle to win as they trailed 1-6 to 2-11 at half time.
Although the Davin team were missing some key players, the players rallied in the second half and ran Roscrea close in the finish.
The final score was Roscrea 4-18 and Davins 6-09.
Scorers for the Davins were: Shane Butler 2-1, Gerry Robinson 1-2, Lee Mackey 1-1, Pa Dowley 1-0, John James Keyes 1-0, Noel Butler 0-2, Stephen Moroney 0-1, Pa Harris 0-1 and Michael Ryan 0-1.
The Davin Club wishes Shane Waters a speedy recovery after receiving an ankle injury during this match.
The hurlers play Burgess in the county championship in Boherlahan on Saturday at 7pm.
Training is continuing for the minors, junior footballers and U-16s. Players will be notified by text about training times and dates.
The U-8s played a blitz in Cahir last weekend. The day was very enjoyable for all the children. The Club thanks all parents for lending a hand on the day.
Training for U-6s, U-8s, U-10s and U-12s continues on the all-weather ptich every Tuesday.
Training for U-6s and U-8s is from 6pm to 7pm while training for U-10s and U-12s is from 7pm to 8pm.
These teams will train in the field on Thursdays from 7pm to 8pm. Players must remember to bring their boots for the field session.
The annual Davins Club Cúl Camp will take place from July 15 to 19. This camp has always been great value with each child receiving expert coaching for the week along with meeting some of Tipperary’s football and hurling stars.
The price of the camp is €55 per child with discounts for families with more than one entrant.
The Davin Club lotto jackpot of €7250 was won last week by Christine Dignam from Grangemockler. Numbers drawn were 5,9,20,22.
