THE LATE DR. MICHAEL HERLIHY
The death occurred on February 22 of Dr Michael Herlihy at his residence Cielito, Georges St., Mitchelstown. The late Dr Michael was very well known being a medical doctor in Mitchelstown for many years. He was in his 91st year. He was a very popular member of the local community and a leader in his profession. His popularity was borne out in the very large and represented attendance present at the Parish Church on Friday when the remains arrived from the family home and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Saturday followed by Cremation at the Island Crematorium Cork. To his wife Maureen,
son Declan, daughters Ann (Peter) Olive (Simpson) Karen (Edgar) sons in law, Arthur, Niven, Simon, daughter in law Elma, grandchildren, relatives and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
THE LATE MARY KELLY
The death occurred on February 21 of Mary Kelly (Nee Kiely), Churchquarter, Kilbehenny. The late Mary was predeceased by her husband Tommy. She was a popular member of the local community. There was a large attendance at the removal from O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home on Wednesday evening last and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Thursday. Interment took place to the nearby Church Grounds. To her daughters Siobhan (O’Mahony) and Sheila (Glavin) son Danny, sister Sheila (Coughlan) brother Joe, extended family and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

GLANWORTH DEFEAT YOUGHAL
Glanworth Intermediate footballers claimed their second win from as many games in the Co IFL on Sunday last when they defeated Youghal by 1-9 to 0-7 at Glanworth. The Imokilly side dominated matters during most of the opening half but were unable to stamp their authority on the scoreboard when only leading by a slender margin at the break 0-5 to 0-4. On the changeover the home side improved greatly and helped by an early goal by Denis Gallagher and some well taken points by Pierre O’Driscoll, Ross Murphy and Christopher Quirke they went on to run out winners by a four point margin. Mitchelstown Tennis Club will hold a casino night this Saturday, March 3, in the Firgrove Hotel, 8pm, in aid of Court refurbishment.
Meetings are held in the Marian Hall Convent Hill Mitchelstown every Tuesday night at 8.45pm and every Sunday morning 11.30am to 12.30pm
