Cullen-Lattin ladies soccer team continue to show improvement as they defeated Croom A 2-0 in a Division Three game at Aisling Park last Thursday evening. Despite both sides having some good opportunities, the opening half remained scoreless, but five minutes after the restart Carol Leahy broke the deadlock, when her powerful shot found the back of the net. Shortly afterwards the home team appeared to have doubled their advantage, but the referee had already blown for a penalty. With Carol Leahy off the field injured, Marguerite Morrissey stepped up, but her shot was driven over the bar. By this time Croom were down to ten players, following an injury, and their rearguard was breached once again by impressive substitute, Chloe O’Brien, who showed great pace and control to finish from an acute angle. The team are at home again this Thursday evening at 7 pm when Shannon will provide the opposition.
