Ardfinnan Tidy Towns
Ardfinnan tidy towns would like to thank everyone that helped out in our clean up week. We got a lot of good work done considering the bad weather we had during the week. The village is looking great but we need everyone’s help to keep it maintained. We would also remind anyone thinking of doing a bit of painting too maybe do it during May. It is great to see everyone taking pride in their houses and gardens and thanks to everyone that goes that little extra and cleans the path and roadway near their houses, this makes a great difference and if everyone did it would make the fight against weeds and litter a lot easier. We are still looking for people to give a little of their time and help us do some painting around the community we are only asking for one or two hours of your time if interested please speak with one of our committee members.
Our Indoor Market will be held in Ardfinnan Community Centre on the first Saturday of each month for the rest of the year. If you want to book a place please contact 0861725559 as we now have only a limited amount of space available. We are also looking for any local fruit or veg growers if they would like to sell their homegrown produce.
Cahir River Search and Rescue;
A church gate collection will take place at all masses at the following Churches next weekend 12th and 13th May in aid of Cahir River Search and Rescue; Ardfinnan, Grange, Ballylooby and Ballybacon. Please support
Both of our Adult teams were given walkovers on Saturday night last. Our Juniors were to play Ballingarry while our Seniors were down to play Carrick Swan.
Our Under 14s had an excellent win over Cahir on Thursday night, winning 2-19 to 1-5.
The Under 12s were beaten in the South Semi Final ‘A’ of the Premier 12s on Friday night last. We played Moyle Rovers in Ballylooby on a night where conditions were difficult for both teams. We played well throughout but Moyle Rovers were very clinical and took their chances when they arose. Great credit must go to both of our panels and this grade who have improved a great deal and the Club would like to thank the parents and players for their cooperation and support during the Championship period. The Club would also like to thank Thomas O’Mahoney, Nigel Carrigan, Niall Hickey, Aidan Savage, Francis O’Neill, John Kinahan and Adrian Condon for their efforts also. The Lads will take a short break and all players will be contacted when training will commence again.
On Saturday morning the Under 8s played in a Blitz in Ballyporeen. We won two matches and narrowly lost the third. A great morning of football and fun was had by all. The Under 8 player of the week is Sammy Lewis and the under 6 Player of the week is John English. Well done lads and keep up the good work.
We are having a table Quiz in aid of the Juvenile Club next Friday night, May 11 in the Glenview Bar, Goatenbridge at 9pm. Tables of 4 will cost €20. Your support would be much appreciated.
The Club extends it deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the late Pauline Hally of Ballyvera, Ardfinnan,. May she rest in peace.
