Burncourt Festival 2012 Continues------
“Half Ways There “as Burncourt Festival continues into its second weekend. With three rounds of the “Battle of the Parish” done and dusted, it’s all systems go for the two final stages. The Table Quiz proved a good night’s entertainment with a competitive edge with the team from the North East emerging as winners followed closely by the team from the North West.
The overall winners of the Quiz were David Power, Dan Dowling, Tommy O’Dwyer and Bernard O’Connor, a fitting result as they were friends of the late Denny Lonregan whose perpetual trophy they were competing for.
On Saturday, the Car Treasure Hunt was challenging but great fun with again the North East victorious followed by the South West and the North West. However fortunes changed on Saturday night with the Novelty Soccer games as the Village and the South East were in first and second place. So it’s all to play for!!
This Friday night, the local Drama Group, who has been busy rehearsing, will entertain us with two short plays, guaranteed to provide plenty of laughter.
The second last round of the “Battle of the Parish” will take place with “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here” in the Community Hall at 8.15. The organisers are setting the tasks which will once again be challenging but fun.
Saturday night sees the final of the “Battle of the Parish” with the Fancy Dress Parade. This is a great opportunity to bring the local areas together and to involve all age groups as they prepare for what is always a great display.

Well Done to Colin, Ben and James.
Congratulations to three local Fr. Sheehy players who were part of the Tipperary U14 football A team to take part in the 20th annual Jim Power Memorial Inter County football tournament on 14th July in Dungarvan. Following challenging matches with Kerry North, Waterford and Cork, the skilled Tipperary team narrowly missed winning out the overall cup against Kerry South on final penalty shoot-outs. The three local lads, Colin English, Ben Hyland and James Conway did their club and county proud by coming home with Inter County runner up medals on the day. Well done to all involved in this tournament and well done to three local lads from a small country club who show that GAA is alive and thriving at local level and there are plenty more able players where they came from!!
