Season Ends For Cahir Intermediate Hurlers

Our intermediate hurling season came to an end when it was confirmed we would not be playing a relegation play-off and would be staying at Intermediate grade for next year. We would like to thank manager Larry Queeny, selectors Jim Doolan and Michael Aherne who put in a huge amount of work over the last three years. Our appreciation is due also to our dedicated team trainer Garvan Queeny who travelled from Mallow twice a week to train the team.

Our under 21 hurling team play this Monday against Skeheenarinka, and this is the last adult team left in competition. We would like to thank all the trainers, managers and selectors and all who helped with teams during the year.

The draw the joker was held in Cahir House Hotel in front of a large crowd on Sunday night last. David Walsh checked the joker card and balls, and supervised the draw. The first name from the drum was Nellie Ryan from 27 Bengurragh who won €100 as the joker was not turned. Liam O’Neill and Pattie Costigan won €50 each and the house prize was won by Eddie Meehan. The jackpot is now €5,400. The next draw will take place in the Punters Rest on this Sunday night at the earlier time of 9pm.

Don’t forget that all profits from the Draw the Joker on November 10 will be donated to the Shaun Fogarty fund. Please support this very deserving cause next week.

Tickets are also available from any Club member and Cahir House Hotel for a Comedy Sensation which takes place on Saturday, November 9, in Cahir House Hotel. It will star Pakie O’Callaghan and Frank Twomey of Dragons Den fame and they regularly feature on the Joe Duffy Show. Tickets are €15 or €25 for two.

Library News

Author Michael Smith visited Cahir library last week and gave a great talk to the boys of 4th and 5th class on one of his novels, The Ice Man. He had lots of secrets to tell them and didn’t get off to lightly with questions afterwards. It was a great experience for the boys as some of them are doing the book as their class novel and Michael brought it to life for them.
