Flu vaccine is now available in Ballingarry Health Centre by appointment with practice nurse. The HSE recommends flu vaccine for all those over 65 years as well as younger people with chronic illnesses. It is also recommended for people with close regular contact with pigs or poultry.

Presentation Secondary School Poetry Aloud: Congrats to all our students who competed in the Regional Finals of the Poetry Aloud competition in Ursuline Secondary School, Thurles on October 24. Martin McGrath 1st year and Ciara O’ Connor 6th year qualified for the semi-finals in the National Library.
Challenge To Change: On Wednesday last Ms. Cahill Principal, Ms Murphy and students Katie Power and Aine Doheny travelled to Tullamore for a seminar on Development Education to mark the tenth anniversary of The Challenge to Change Project. There were a number of presentations and an opportunity to view projects which raised awareness on issues of injustice and inequality. Our students asked the question ”How many slaves work for you?” as they focused on the sweat shop industry and the production of high street clothing using child labour.
TY Outing: The TY’s together with Ms Coleman had a most enjoyable outing as they went to the matinee of ”Kiss me Kate” which was Presentation Secondary School, Clonmel’s annual production.

A public meeting arranged by Cllr Marie Murphy about the Gridlink project will be held in Burncourt Community Hall on this Friday, November 1, at 8pm. The Gridlink project consists of a new high voltage overhead power line on pylons up to 44 meters high. A corridor through South Tipperary has been identified as one possible option and this corridor comes very close to Burncourt. Every household needs to have their say as to how this could affect them and their community. Submissions to Eirgrid have to be made before 5pm on November 26.

CLCG Naomh Pádraig u21 hurlers played Grangemockler/Davins last Saturday. After drawing with Moyle Rovers the weekend before a win was essential. It was a tight game and we only managed to pull away when Grangemockler Davins had two lads sent off in the last 15 minutes. We won 2-12 to 2-08. On Saturday, November 2, our u21 hurlers play Kilsheelan-Kilcash at 2pm in Mullinahone in the final match in the league section of the championship.GAA Club Gathering: On Saturday, November 23, St. Patricks GAA Club will hold a function in Cloneen Sports & Social Club to mark the 50th Anniversary of winning three South Finals in 1963. Guests of Honour will be the members of the Junior Hurling, Junior Football and Minor Football panels of that year. We will also mark the 60th Anniversary of winning the Co. Senior and Junior Football championships of 1953. Mass for deceased members of the GAA will be celebrated in The Church of the Nativity Cloneen at 7pm that evening.
