Carrick-on-Suir’s Lions Club’s Awareness Open Week is underway and today the club is highlighting the bone wasting disease Osteoporosis.
CEO of Osteoporosis Ireland Michelle O’Brien will present information sessions on the disease in Greenhill Secondary School at 12.30pm and in Comeragh College at 2.30pm.
There will also be a free public talk on Osteporosis in the Carraig Hotel at 7pm. All are welcome.
Other events the Lions Club is organising for the remainder of its first Awareness Week about its work include a cookery demonstration in association with Suir Community Development in Greenhill Secondary School at 7pm tomorrow (Thursday) and a Road Safety information talk by Gda Pat Kelly in Comeragh College on Friday.
The Awareness Week will conclude with the launch of the Lions Club ‘Message in a Bottle’ national initiative by Phil Prendergast MEP in Ormond Castle.
There will be entertainment from Carrick-on-Suir Brass Band and Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society at the launch and prizes will be presented to winners of various Lions Club events during the Awareness Week.
