The final curtain came down on the Johnny Gleeson Memorial Pool Tournament after 16 years of fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland. The final was held in Dunford’s bar, Touraneena. It proved to be a tremendous success. It was well organised and well supported and at the end of the night the hard working committee presented a cheque for E2,168 Euro to the Cystic Fibrosis Association.

Michael and Breda Hickey would like to sincerely thank Brendan Tobin and Maurice Cliffe and all of the committee over the years for their loyalty and support in their fundraising efforts. They would also like to thank the generous support from the Touraneena/ Ballymacarbry public and areas beyond, without whose support the Cystic Fibrosis Association would be very starved of cash.

They take this opportunity to thank all the various sponsors throughout the years and extend a big thank you to all who contributed in any way. They would also like to thank all the ladies and gentlemen who took part in the Tournament and congratulate the winners and runners up.

It was a fantastic 16 years of a very well organised and run tournament by Brendan, Maurice and all the committee and a very substantial amount of money was raised for this very worthy cause for which they are entirely grateful. When a cure is found, you can all be happy in the knowledge that you contributed to such a worthy cause. Once again a big thank you to all and as a token of our appreciation, mass will be offered for your intentions.
