NEW INN YOUTH CLUB
On Saturday, February 9, the Youth Club went to the Ursuline in Thurles for a junior basketball blitz. They played four matches against Littleton/Thurles, Loughmore, Drom and a play off for third place against Littleton which they won 38 to 14. This semi-final playoff placed New Inn in third place out of the nine teams who took part. Team: Conor O’Brien, Mark Casey, Gabriel Rigaudie, Finbarr and Diarmuid English, Davina Ryan, Ciara Moloney and Niamh O’Brien. Well done to all the players and the parents involved.
The women’s group are going to the hit musical show “Wicked” in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin on Tuesday, December 3. Anyone interested in going please contact Mary Frances on 0527462252 asap.
NEW PARISH COUNCIL
The following have been voted in and have accepted a place on the new parish council. Donal O’Dwyer, Gerardine Cooney, Tom Buckley, Emma O’Connor, Michael Boland, Sandra English, Kevin Moore, Mary Holleran, Pat Peters, Ann Clifford, Eileen Halley and Fr. Michael Kennedy (ex officio).The new Parish Council had its first meeting on Monday, February 4. A new officer board was elected - Chairman: Tom Buckley, Secretary: Anne Clifford, Joint Treasurers: Eileen Halley and Geraldine Cooney.
NEW INN / ROSEGREEN BASKETBALL CLUB
had a table quiz on Saturday, February 2, in Barron’s Pub, New Inn. Winners on the night were John Prendergast, Kevin Halpin, Mary J Taylor and Amy Byrnes. In second place were Ger Long, Geraldine Maher, Paddy Maher and John Wilson and third place Eileen Bell, Dessie Bell, Vincent O’Connor, Bridget Ryan and Cian O’Donnell. Sincere thanks to the local parish clubs who participated and provided sponsorship. Great credit is due to all involved, especially MC on the night Karl McHugh, Michael Crowe who compiled the questions, Mary Frances Barron and all the hard working basketball committee. Football/ hurling training continues on Monday in Rockwell College. All Weather Pitch from 7pm to 8pm for U6, U8, U10 and U12 age groups. €3 for one child, €4 for two, €5 thereafter. Mouth guards, astro turf boots or runners needed. No band or hoops on hurleys. Membership is now due, €10 per child.
