Paddy’s Day Parade meeting
Carrick-on-Suir’s St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee are appealing for volunteers to help organise the pageant that takes place on Sunday, March 17 at 2.30pm.
The Committee has urged anyone interested in volunteering to attend a meeting at The Junction Bar, New St., Carrick-on-Suir this Friday, February 15 at 8pm.
“This year the Committee are stretched to the limit. We are looking for anyone who might be interested in getting involved to come along on Friday night. You might like to be part of the committee or just want to help out on the day. We would be very grateful, “ said a spokesperson for the Parade Committee.
Home security advice for carers
Carrick-on-Suir Carers Support Group members learned about improving their home security at their latest monthly meeting.
Gdas. Sean Cuddy and Gda Sarah Fitzgerald advised members not to leave keys in the inside lock of the door or in obvious places in the house where they can be easily located.
He said chain locks provide extra protection and he urged people to be very careful about leaving people you do not know into your home.
Garda Cuddy advised people if they are going away and leaving a house empty for a period they should let the local gardai know and they will keep an eye on the house. He said the Gardai in the Carrick on Suir area are available 24/7 if called in an emergency situation.
He also warned people to be careful with their handbags and to avoid walking in dark areas.
South Tipperary Carers Association Manager Richie Molloy explained the benefit of panic buttons, especially for older people living alone. Michael Lonergan, O’Hickey Place, Carrickbeg was the person to contact for more information on these buttons.
A vote of sympathy was passed to member Maria Barry on the death of her mother Mary (Babs) Power, Figlash.
The next meeting of the group will be on Tuesday, March 12 in the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre at 11am.

Ballyneale FC victory
Ballyneale FC defeated Peake Village by a staggering seven goals to one in a League match in Thurles last Sunday.
Enda Fogarty opened the scoring after 17 minutes, and continued scoring until the 70th minute. He scored a total of five goals in this one-sided game.
Tom Kennedy and John McGrath added two more goals to Ballyneale’s tally.
The team play Tipperary Town in an away game this Sunday, February 17.
