A community alert meeting will take place on Friday, April 19, 8pm in Knockavilla hall to discuss the text alert system. Also to be discussed is the introduction of google mapping. If this scheme goes ahead, it would mean that all interested house owners would be given their own co ordinates which then could be used if any of the emergency services were needed, rather than trying to give directions you would just have to give the co ordinates, which would speed up the response time for the emergency vehicles. The text alert system is operational in the parish for the last two months. Cappawhite now also has set up a text alert system, and both our scheme and theirs are now linked up so that all relevant information between the two parishes can be shared. The committee would also like to thank the local FAS scheme for all their assistance in erecting the road signs in the parish.

Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickham GAA club offer their deepest sympathies to Liam, Tony and John Doherty and their families on the recent death of their beloved mother Elizabeth (Ciss) Doherty (nee Phelan), late of Ballinahinch, after a long illness bravely borne. The three boys all wore the black and amber of Kickhams with great pride and no little success in their youth and are well thought of by all in the club. We also offer our condolences to the extended Doherty and Phelan families at this sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam

We wish our senior hurlers the very best of luck when they play reigning west champions Clonoulty Rossmore in the 3rd round of the senior hurling championship on Sunday next in Golden at 3pm (check fixtures to confirm). Recent games between both teams have been close and exciting and as both teams are unbeaten at this stage of the competition this will probably be another cracker. Our minor footballers had a win over Cappawhite last Thursday.
