TIDY TOWNS TUESDAY

The tidy towns committee are having a clean up every Tuesday from 7.30pm to 8.30pm for the next few weeks. We would encourage everyone to come out and do a small bit to help keep our village clean.

RUN FOR FUN

The Day Care committee are looking for volunteers interested in running the in the Dublin Ladies Mini Marathon on the June Bank Holding Weekend. Monies raised from the run will aid fund raising for the Day-Care.

TEA DANCE

Remember the next tea dance in the Resource Centre will be on May 4 when the great Sam O’Doherty will give it his very best on the night from 9.30pm to 12.30am. High tea served at 11pm and extra spots on the night.

The committee would be grateful if anyone could donate a spot prize and of course all the proceeds go to the Day Care. SWALLOWS

Have you seen the swallows yet? Last week before the heavy rain they were lilting the ground in Ayle, Ballyhane and surroundings areas. Thank God they were flying high.

SINCERE SYMPATHY

To the Ryan (Phil) family on the death last week of Katie, mam, grandmother and great-grandmother. To her daughters Joan, Angela, Mary, Sr. Helen and Kathleen, son Danny (Canada), grandchildren some of whom travelled from Canada for the funeral, daughters-in-law Veronica and Margaret.

Katie was queen of the Square when she lived there, she moved to the village around 1990 from Ballykiveen are her husband Johnnie died R.I.P. Katie’s many friends will miss calling to the Woodlands to see her, where she spent the last two years of her life. After a very large funeral on both days Katie was laid to rest in the family burial ground in Cappawhite. May her dear soul Rest in Peace.

CAPPAWHITE N.S.

Cappawhite N.S. is delighted to announce that it has been awarded its fourth Green Flag, based on the travel theme. The school has been working on this theme for the past two years, by encouraging pupils to walk or cycle to school. The school will receive the award at An Taisce presentation in Kilkenny at the end of May. The flag will be raised in the school grounds at the annual end of year mass.

SCRAP METAL 
COLLECTION

An open day for scrap metal will be held at Grisewood’s Farm on Saturday, April 27. Scrap metal and electrical items can be dropped between 10am and 4 pm. Larger items can be collected. Please contact Cappawhite N.S. on 06275363 if you require collection.
