The Carrick-on-Suir Entrepreneur of the Year contest will take people with raw business ideas and provide them with the training and support they need to develop their proposal into a viable business plan.

A minimum of ten entrants will be accepted for the competition’s training and mentoring programme.

The overall winner will receive a prize package of products and services to help get their new company off the ground, including a business premises, legal, accounting, website and IT support.

South Tipperary Development Company (STDC) is organising the contest in association with Carrick-on-Suir Business Association, whose members will provide much of the prize supports to the winning company.

“The training and mentoring will run from September to December and the winner will be announced in December,” explained Don Davern of HR Direct Ltd, the firm STDC has engaged to work with the fledgling businesses.

A similar competition that finished recently in Tipperary Town has resulted in the creation of 11 new firms in that town.

To enter the Carrick competition you must be over 18 years, literate, unemployed or under employed. You must be willing to locate the firm in Carrick-on-Suir and it must not compete with any existing business in the town.
