Barry McCarthy Swims

The annual swims in memory of the late Barry McCarthy take place in the River Suir at Sean Healy Park this Sunday, July 7 at 4.30pm.

A large entry is expected for the event, which is a popular warm up for the Carrick-on-Suir Triathlon.

The swim distances will be: 500m, 750m and 1,500m and they will be followed by a barbecue. For further information contact (087) 4177545.

A six day preached retreat will be run at Glencomeragh House, Kilsheelan from Sunday, July 7 to Saturday, July 13.

The retreat will be presented by John Fuellenbach, SVD.

It will centre on the theme: “To follow Jesus today as he walked over the earth in his time”.

Roche family benefit night

A benefit night for the family of the late Frank Roche from Clonea Power will take place in Clancy’s Bar in Clonea on Saturday, July 20.

All proceeds from the fund-raising event will go to the Frank Roche Family Fund that will be used to help Mr Roche’s surviving partner Catherine and their five young children.

Mr Roche, who was a farm labourer from a well known local family, died suddenly on April 7 last.
