New offices elected to St. Mary’s Choral Society, Clonmel

St Mary’s Choral Society, Clonmel held their AGM last week and a good-sized attendance listened to chairperson George Barry, secretary Grainne Vaughan and treasurer John Staunton give a comprehensive report of the activities and fundraising efforts over the past twelve months.

St Mary’s Choral Society, Clonmel held their AGM last week and a good-sized attendance listened to chairperson George Barry, secretary Grainne Vaughan and treasurer John Staunton give a comprehensive report of the activities and fundraising efforts over the past twelve months.

The production teams and cast of both productions this year - The Wizard of Oz and Jekyll and Hyde - were congratulated on two wonderful productions. Diarmuid Vaughan, Ruth Butler and the cast of Jekyll and Hyde were also congratulated on their AIMS nominations, with Ruth Butler receiving a round of applause for winning the AIMS Best Programme Award for the third successive year.

The following officers and committee were elected for the coming season - patrons: Fr. Billy Meehan and Rev. Barbara Fryday; president: Denis Farrell;

Vice-presidents: Margaret O’Sullivan, Margaret Rossiter, Colm Fennessy, Michael O’Donoghue, Jim O’Shea and Sean Treacy.

Chairperson: Noel Cairns; vice-chairperson: John Staunton; secretary: Grainne Vaughan; treasurer: Regina Power; PRO: Ruth Butler.

Committee: Elaine Bowe, Ruth Marron Kane, Alison McNamara, Ann Gardiner, Liam Hunter, Robert Donlan and Jimmy Trehy.

The new committee will begin work immediately and it is hoped to organise some fun fundraising activities over the summer. The society’s programme of events for the coming year will be announced in late August.
