South Tipp Art Group

29 members of the Primary Group (9 years to 6th class) went on an art trip with tutors Audrey, Bobby and Maureen on Saturday to The Art Hand School, Bunmahon, which is run by artists Sean and Miranda. They had a whale of a time climbing rocks and making art for nearly two hours on the beautiful beach at Kilmurrin Cove.

At the art workshop everyone got into the swing of making art in the studio and the results will be brought up to STAG on Saturday week for all to take home and hang up.

They were then brought to the Copper Mine Museum in Bunmahon, which is run by Paula (Maunsell) McCarthy from Clonmel. They were spellbound watching the film that Sean had made about the copper mines and the lives of the people in Bunmahon during copper mining. The children really enjoyed the trip.

The Seniors stayed in the Art Room in Ss Peter and Paul’s Primary School with tutor Julie doing lino prints.

Adult STAG is very busy every Tuesday night and new members are always welcome. Just call the Organiser Maureen Purcell at 086-8096823 for details.

Dolphin Swimming Club

A Christmas fundraising dance in aid of The Dolphin Swimming Club for the disabled will be held on Friday, December 6 in The Coachman, Parnell Street, Clonmel. Music will be played by The Sheehans and tickets cost just €6 for the opportunity to dance the night away from 9.30-12.30am. Finger food will be served.

Road markings restored

During the week the road markings were restored in Marlfield. The white lines and the yellow broken lines on the new road surfaces mark out the parking and traffic areas. Hopefully they will regulate the speed and manners of motorists and prevent overtaking in the village centre. A crossing for pedestrians is also needed at the village cross and then we will be set up for the next few years.
