Cahir Park Football Club has lost one of their greatest son’s Billy Falcon Purtill a man who dedicated his life to our club.
The Purtill Family have a long association with Cahir Park stretching back decades. Billy served in many positions in the club, one of his proudest moments was to be chairman in our centenary year.
One of Billy’s last club duties was to present the Paddy Purtill Cup, named after his late father, to the captain of Cahir Park last April. Billy stuck with the club through thick and thin and earned the well-deserved title “Mr Cahir Park”. Billy was well respected and a gentleman who was welcomed where ever he went, one of the town’s great characters. This could have been seen by the large turnout at his removal with people travelling from near and far, John Delaney FAI CEO was also at the burial this shows how well Billy was respected in football circles.
We would like pass on our condolences to the Purtill Family in these tough times.
Rest in peace Mr Cahir Park, the club will never be the same without you.
