Irish Water will take over water services in Ireland from January, with billing to domestic customers to start in 2015, but to date no water meters have been installed in County Tipperary.

The information was revealed at the recent monthly meeting of the county council.

Acting Director of Services, Jimmy Harney, said that while Irish Water will be taking over the service local authorities will still have an active role in the process under service agreements. The 12 year service agreement allayed fears by assuring employment will continue in water services in the county.
