Kilsheelan-Kilcash Active Retirement group is now up and running. To date we have had three meetings which proved very positive and enjoyable. Our sessions are made up of a number of activities including bingo, song and dance, Tai Chi, cups of tea and lots of laughter. We take this opportunity to thank all our musicians and singers who gave of their time to make these sessions more enjoyable also to all the committee who set up the group. We are planning a day out before the end of the season and new members are always welcome. Next Meeting on Wednesday, April 6.

KILLURNEY SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB
The main item on the agenda this week is the Children’s Table Quiz on Friday night at 8pm. We hope to see a good representation from all the usual schools and a good night is assured for all. We are having a novel “Jumbo Veggie” day in September. The idea here is that we are encouraging all of you to grow your own veggies and show them in Killurney Hall on a date to be decided in September. We hope to have a display of flowers, handicrafts and home baking on the day. We are sending an invitation also to the three National Schools in the parish to encourage the younger generation to participate. We will have an independent adjudicator to choose the Jumbo Veggie. We were saddened to hear of the death of Peggy Lonergan Seskin. She was always the life and soul of the Senior Citizens Party and also supported our other functions. We extend our sympathy to her extended family. May her soul rest in peace.
Three match three winners last week, Colleen Crotty, Helen Browne and Ellen Condon. This week’s jackpot stands at €4,600, draw taking place in Lisadobber.
The group is now up and running, with an average attendance of 16 youth members. We hope to continue until June and then break for the summer. The Club runs from 7.30pm to 9pm every Thursday in the new community rooms in Kilsheelan and teenagers are welcome to attend (Secondary school up to 18 years of age). Membership is very reasonable at €15 until August 2012 and subs are €2 per night.
Our thanks to Joseph Guthrie of “Get Your Locks Off” hairdressing who recently gave a very enjoyable talk on all aspects of hairdressing. The committee also wish to thank sincerely those who donated a dartboard, pool table, air hockey and football table to the Foróige Club, they are much appreciated. As with all voluntary groups we will need to fundraise so with this in mind we are at present applying for permission to hold a flag day in the near future, we would love to hear from anyone with other fundraising ideas for the group. The committee are meeting each Tuesday between 7.30pm and 8pm to plan upcoming events.
KILCASH COMMUNITY CENTRE - A.G.M
The annual general meetingeeting of the Centre will take place on Tuesday, April 19, at 8.30pm. As the Community Centre is a focal point for all in the local area, we would like to see more involvement in the administration and day to day running of the local hall.
Winners on Wednesday night were the Kilkenny men Tom Ryan and Ritchie Burke taking top prize with 12 games. Sharing the runners-up spot were two husband and wife teams, Sean and Anne Murray and Eddie and Rose Holohan on 11 games. Note that the game continues each week at 8.30pm sharp.
BALLYPATRICK SPORTS CENTRE - TENNIS - MEMBERS SPRING LEAGUE
After a very enjoyable tournament that attracted over 50 players and played over the past number of weeks the Semi Finals and Finals were decided on Sunday, March 27. On a beautiful day, it was great to see such a turnout of members, both old and young, and all enjoyed some great matches, good craic and some lovely refreshments. The tournament, divided into three grades saw close and exciting matches in all Finals with results as follows: Grade “A” Brenda Rowan and Niall Gibbs beat Elaine Walsh and Noel Murphy. In the “B” section the winners were Frances Tobin and Michael Martin who overcame Attracta O’Reilly and Walter Crowley while in the “C” section Kerry Mc Elligott and Louise Foley got the better of Sarah Woodlock and Mary Mc Elligott. Tennis Captain Rose Holohan presented the prizes to the winners and runners-up and thanked all for their co-operation in making the event so successful. Indeed, Rose and her tennis sub-committee deserve praise for their input in organising and running such an enjoyable tournament. Well done.
Now that the summer competition season is upon us, we urge all players to consider making themselves available for selection on Club teams - there is a grade of competition for all. For the next few weeks, a tournament for all members will take place weekly. Just come along and join in the game. Check Club house for date and time each week.

We extend our sympathy to the family of Oliver Dempsey. In his juvenile days he lined out for the Club and also played at Junior level. He was also an ardent follower of Tipperary teams. His grandchildren Damien and Aaron Dempsey now continue the tradition with the Club. We also record the passing of Peggy Lonergan, Seskin. In the past she was a keen supporter of our teams. We extend our sympathy to her extended family and not forgetting her grandchildren, some of whom are still representing the Club. May their souls rest in peace.
Please note that the Annual Adult Table Quiz in aid of the Juvenile Club will take place on Friday, April 29, in Robinsons.
The Minor Football team will play Clonmel Commercials in Monroe on Sunday (10th) at 12noon.
