National School Gala Day

National School Gala Day

The Skeheenarinky National School Gala Day, organised by the Parents’ Association, takes place on the weekend of June 24 to 26 this year and we look forward, as usual, to the support of the entire community, young and old, from near and far. Please try to support the Gala Day in any way you can. There’s a Card Game at Jacksons on the Friday night, a Coffee Morning at Galty Cottage on the Saturday morning , and, of course, the Gala Afternoon at the School Grounds on the Sunday at 2pm, where a terrific Family Day is planned with sports, barbecue, Tug o’War, and side shows. We might even see you at all three events which would be wonderful! Friday 24, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June.

Coffee Morning

In conjunction with the Gala Weekend, Karol and Ed are holding a fundraising Coffee Morning at their home, Galty Cottage , beside the school, on Saturday, June 25, from 10am to 12.30 pm. Come and meet friends and neighbours for a chat, a coffee and some cake, and perhaps make a donation to the cause (voluntary). Proceeds will go to the National School Parents’ Association.

Garden Club Trip to Lismore Gardens

Skeheenarinky Garden Club is organising their first outing on July 2 to visit historic Lismore and afterwards to Cosy Meadows who specialise in country cottage plants and ornamental grasses. Some leisure time in Lismore is planned. Contact Doug 086 8051564 or Kathleen for details and to book your seat. You don’t have to be a member of the club to join in this eagerly anticipated trip.

Local Branch MS ‘Galtee Walk’ Reminder

A reminder that The Fermoy Branch (Local Branch) MS Ireland are holding their Galtee Walk on this coming Sunday, June 19. The Fermoy Branch covers Youghal, Midleton, Fermoy, Mallow, Mitchelstown, and surrounding areas. Comfortable walking attire is essential. It’s a great family day out and sponsorship cards and further details are available from Eleanor on (086) 249 3252 or any committee member.

Flower Show

At a meeting of Skeheenarinky Garden Club recently it was agreed that St. Teresa’s Hospital, Clogheen will be the recipient of a donation from the proceeds of this year’s Skeheenarinky Flower and Vegetable Show. You can support it by volunteering for the day, making a donation, by sponsoring the show or/and the Flower Show Social Evening, and by entering one of the many Flower, Vegetable, Handicraft, Photography, Baking, Children’s categories etc. It’s a difficult time for businesses, but your support will be publicly acknowledged. And remember, by supporting the Skeheenarinky Flower and Vegetable Show on August 13, you will be supporting your local hospital at Clogheen.
