CLARE’S MONTESSORI SCHOOL:

Will re-open on Wednesday, August 31, at 9.30am. Places are still available for children on the Free Pre-School Scheme and also fee paying children. Please contact Clare on 085 7784487. G.A.A.

This week we salute the Tipperary minor football team who qualified for the All Ireland Final. It was a great honour for our Club to have David Power as Manager of the team. Bill Maher worked tirelessly and was instrumental in setting up a number of scores while Adrian McGuire played his part when he was introduced as a sub in the second half.

Closing date for ordering All Ireland Hurling Final tickets is August 24. Demand already far exceeds supply, and we ask our members to be patient as the committee will decide on the fairest way to allocate them. Up to the minute details will be posted on the website regarding distribution.

On Friday evening our Senior football team take on Moyle Rovers in Clonmel in the County Senior Football championship at 6.30pm. On Monday evening (29th) the eagerly awaited Minor Football Final between Kilsheelan Gaels and Commercials will take place at 6.45pm in Ardfinnan.

We extend our sympathy to the Fitzpatrick family on the death of their mother Mary. Her sons Donie and Johnny were prominent players with the club and Johnny is still a very active committee member.

JUVENILES:

Having lost their last match to Mullinahone the U/16 hurling team had a chance to get back on the winning trail when they were at home to Fethard. In the first half they were on top and goals by Paudie O’Donovan and Joe O’Neill helped them to a half time lead of 2-6 to 0-4.

In the second half they continued to have the upper hand. Paudie O’Donovan had a further goal, further afield Paul Maher and Eoin Kehoe led the way with some well taken points. Despite Fethard having registered two goals it was Kilsheelan who ran out most deserving winners by 3-15 to 2-8.

The following will represent Tipperary next Saturday: Kevin Kehoe in the Sonny Walsh U/14 Hurling “B” Tournament in Waterford, Paul Maher in the Carrigdoun U/15 Hurling Tournament in Cork, Eoin Kehoe in the U/16 hurling team who will compete in the All Ireland Tournament at venues in Mid Tipperary.
