Knockavilla National School Parents Association are delighted to announce their great success in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parades. Their float “Mr Paddy, The Smiling Fish” won joint 1st in the Cashel Parade on Saturday 17 and was overall winner of 1st prize in the Thurles Parade on Sunday 18. It was a visual delight for all spectators.
“Mr Paddy” was made by Scoil Mhuire, Knockavilla national school children and their parents out of recycled materials and represents Pisces. The project theme was about giving the children a sense of identity. At the parades the children wore t-shirts which they stencilled themselves in school with their own Zodiac sign on them. Congratulations to all involved on such a great achievement.

Our seniors got their season underway on St Patrick’s Day with a home game against Roscrea in the Co. League. The lads were very impressive in the first half and were leading at the break. However in the second half Roscrea had the breeze and were victorious on the score 1-18 to 0-14 We were unfortunate to lose a few players to injury during the game which seemed to affect the overall performance, we also missed a few chances that might have kept us to the fore, however the team and management will have taken a lot of positives from the game and will hopefully learn from the negatives. We play Portroe away next weekend, please check fixtures list for details.
U/21 (B) Football.
Our U/21 footballer’s were beaten by Cashel King Cormacs in the West Semi final on Friday night last. We thank the management and team for their efforts. See match report in Sports pages of the Nationalist.
