Carrick-on-Suir gets ready for Tidy Towns campaign

An interim new Tidy Towns Committee for Carrick-on-Suir was formed at a public meeting in the Carraig Hotel last week.

An interim new Tidy Towns Committee for Carrick-on-Suir was formed at a public meeting in the Carraig Hotel last week.

The committee includes Maria Madden, Gillian O’Regan, Vera Walsh, Margaret Croke, Carmel Hutchinson and Catherine O’Callaghan and they will progress matters until the next Tidy Towns meeting.

In the meantime, people from the town interested in getting involved in Tidy Towns are invited to a Tidy Towns Seminar in Bru Boru Cultural Centre in Cashel on Saturday, March 31 from 10am to 1.30pm.

It was also decided at the public meeting that campaign to clean the town of gum litter will be launch in Carrick-on-Suir in May.

Mayor of Carrick-on-Suir Cllr Patsy Fitzgerald assured the meeting that Carrick-on-Suir Development Association will make available all its facilities as a support mechanism for the new Tidy Towns committee.
