The Ballyporeen Ballyoscars Festival takes place on the June bank holiday weekend.
Friday, June 3: Soap Box Race at the top of the village at 7.30pm. Under 9, Under 12, Under 18 and Townlands categories. All entrants/forms for Soap Box Race must be completed by May 29, contact Elaine for details 087-2684626.
Teenage Disco in the parish hall from 9pm to 11.30pm. Disco in Meaney’s bar with DJ Aftershock.
Saturday, June 4: Handball tournament from 2pm to 4pm in the handball alley. Duck Derby/Treasure Hunt at the GAA pitch at 3.30pm. Townlands parade through village at 8pm. O’Casey’s Lounge at 9pm – Townlands film scenes shown, followed by music.

From June 10 to 17, parishioners might dedicate one window and decorate one window and decorate it with a sacred image-give a sense of local celebration.
A vintage motor bike rally will be coming through Clogheen on Saturday, June 9, at approx 3.15pm to 4.15pm with a time check and stop over at Brendans Bar Main Street Clogheen. Please welcome the bikers to Clogheen.
FR SHEEHY’S JUVENILE GAA
This year’s Kellogg’s Cul Camp will be held at Fr. Sheehy GAA Park from July 16 to 20. Application forms are now available. E55 for one child, E45 for the second and E40 for a third child or more in a family. Contact Mike 086-1700635 for more details.
Under 14. Fr. Sheehy’s South Tipperary u14 football semi final is expected to be played this week versus Clonmel Og.
Under 14 hurling. Congratulations to Fr. Sheehy’s u14 player, Ben Hyland who was selected to play for the South Tipperary team for the annual Peadar Cummins Inter Divisional Tournament in Borrisoleigh last Saturday. Ben scored the only goal of the game as the South beat the North by two points in the semi final but the Mid proved too strong for the South team in the final.
BRIAN BORU’S CAMOGIE
Training continues every Tuesday U8/U10’s 6.15pm to 7pm and U12/14’s 7pm to 8pm. The annual church gate collection for the Camogie Club will take place on the weekend of June 9 and 10.
U/8 Blitz in The Ragg
The U/8s attended a blitz in The Ragg on Saturday 26th and all had a great morning of Camogie. We played Kiladangan, Thurles and Toomevara and the girls came out winners in all three games.
Team: Jill Ryan, Keighley Dwyer, Rhona Dowling, Roisin Maher, Aisling Ryan, Ali O’Donnell, Katelyn Cunningham, Anna Sheehan, Grace Sheehan and Lilly Langton.
Also well done to the trainers of the U/8 panel who train them every Tuesday night, Maureen Murphy, Laura Morrissey and Paul Dwyer. These girls are after improving greatly since the start of the year.
BRIAN BORU’S FOOTBALL
On Tuesday last our U14’s played Clonmel Commercials in their semi final. On the night Commercials emerged victorious by a 3 point margin. Thanks to Marie Walsh and Garret Byrne for looking after the 14’s during the year and a big thank you to Marie for providing the goodies after the match.
On Thursday night the u12’s played their last round game where they took on Fethard. The girls emerged winners on the night and now wait the results of the fixtures meeting to see who they will play in their next game.
VEE ROVERS F.C.
The annual general meeting will take place on Friday, June 1, at 9pm in St Pauls Community Centre. We will review the events of the season gone by and plan for the year ahead.
Congratulations to Cian Murphy who recently captained the T.S and D.L. under 12s schoolboys team in the Munster final. Unfortunately they were beaten on the day, but we are proud of Cian and the honour bestowed on him.
Vee Rovers Ladies continued their campaign with a draw away to Cashel having lost to Dualla the previous week.
European Championships: Best of luck to Ireland in the finals. Vee Rovers hold a party night in Nedeen’s Bar on Sunday, June 10, to coincide with Ireland’s first game against Croatia. Come along and enjoy the fun.
Condolences: The club extends its deepest sympathies to the English family Killeigh Cahir, and the Corbett family, Clogheen,, on the sad passing of Claire. Claire was everybody’s friend, with a huge interest in everything local. By her courage and commitment she was an example to everybody, and will be sadly missed not only by her family, but by all who were lucky enough to know her. May she rest in peace.
